Bergmeier takes Avalon track series round 3

Article posted on 21 Feb 2018

Ash Bergmeier has put on a dominant display to take out round 3 of the Avalon Raceway Super Sedan Track Series. The surface at Avalon was one of the fastest that we have seen at the venue. This led to some blistering lap times and great lap times.

The first heat saw Dave Mackenzie take the heat win whilst the second saw Bergmier find his way to the front. The heats were spectacular to watch. Both Lionel West and Trent Susol having big moments and almost tipping their cars over. Both drivers managed to escape relatively unharmed. Unfortunately Gavin Cooper had a major engine issue during the second heat and didnt take part in the final.

The starting order had Bergmeier and Neil Witnish on the front followed by Mackenzie and Adam Box on the second row.

Bergmier and Mackenzie both made great starts and moved up into first and second respectively. Box held third place until mid race when he tagged the wall trying to put a lap on a slower car damaging his car and bringing out the caution.

Upon the resumption of racing Bergmeier was able to clear out and take the win from Mackenzie in second. Third place was hotly contested between Witnish , Trent Wilson , West & Susol. Eventually Witnish got thr upper hand and claimed the final place in the podium.

The next meeting for a number of our competitors is the Australian Super Sedan Title at Valvloline raceway on the 2nd & 3rd of March. Locally the next Victorian race is the Bendigo Specialist Brake and Clutch Goldrush at Rushworth on March 10 & 11.
